Ce premier des trois rendez-vous du Championnat de Belgique de la discipline a réuni du beau monde dans les installations d’Oudenaarde. Avec près de 100 joueurs et joueuses, 80 touchdowns, 12 arbitres, 7 équipes et un paquet de spectateurs.

Boitsfort a remporté cette première manche, suivi de près par le BBRFC Celtic, deuxième. Le Kituro et Oudenaarde se sont partagés la troisième place, Gent, les Citizens et Hamme suivant au classement.

Les équipes ont pu bénéficier d’une équipe d’arbitres de qualité, emmenée par Kathy Van de Rijt et Wenjing Zhuang.

La prochaine manche du Championnat de Belgique aura lieu le dimanche 17 février.

First leg of the Belgian Touch Championships – the results

The results are in from the first leg of the Touch national championships which took place on Sunday in Oudenaarde.

Almost 100 players, 80 touchdowns, 12 referees, 7 teams and numerous spectators participated as the teams battled it out in a friendly and competitive atmosphere to establish their positions in the first of a three leg round robin, that will determine the rankings for the final play-off next summer.

Leading the pack after the first round is Boitsfort, closely followed by BBRFC Celtics in second place. Kituro and Oudenaarde are in joint third place, with Gent, the Citizens and Hamme coming in fourth and joint fifth respectively.

Helping provide a welcome change from the competitive games was a social game played by teams from Oudenaarde and Gent, who joined forces to allow the developing players show their impressive skills, cheered on by a multitude of local supporters.

The teams were fortunate to have a top team of referees present, ensuring fair play throughout the afternoon. Thank you to Nicolas Van de Rijt for providing valuable feedback to both players and refs, and to Kathy Van de Rijt and Wenjing Zhuang for joining the Touch Belgium referees.

Thank you also to Oudenaarde rugby club, and the team at the Golden Rhinos for great organisation and hosting of the tournament.
