Communiqué de Touch Belgium

Les Championnats d’Europe de Touch se disputent au niveau européen le plus élevé, chacun des joueurs a consacré des mois d’entrainement, de préparation physique et participé à de nombreux tournois pour préparer cette échéance. Les nations figurant parmi les adversaires de la Belgique sont l’Angleterre, la France, l’Allemagne, l’Ecosse, le Pays de Galles, Guernsey, le Luxembourg, l’Italie, Jersey, la Suisse, l’Irlande, le Portugal et le Middle East.

3 arbitres de Belgique seront également en action : Stéphanie Horeau, Karla Brincat et Ivo Broucke. Indispensables tout au long de la préparation des trois équipes nationales, ils rejoignent à Nottingham l’équipe de 95 arbitres.

Grâce au fournisseur de matériel Sports Distribution, les trois équipes belges évolueront avec des tenues aux couleurs nationales spécialement créées pour cet événement. Volvo ACG et Logo.Praxis participent également au financement du déplacement. Cependant, chaque montant compte ! Nous récoltons toujours des fonds pour aider chaque joueur à couvrir les frais de transport d’hébergement et de participation aux championnats. Quelque soit le montant du don, il permettra aux joueurs de couvrir leurs frais qui s’élèvent à 600€ par joueur.

La Belgique a la possibilité d’envoyer 3 équipes à ces Championnats d’Europe grâce au travail sérieux et à l’implication de chacun des joueurs dans le développement du sport au sein de chaque club. Le nombre de clubs de Touch est en croissance avec l’Antwerp, Boitsfort, Gent, Hamme, le Kituro, Oudenaarde, le BBRFC Celtics et les Citizens. Liège et La Hulpe ont également en projet une équipe de Touch. Le nombre de joueurs a ainsi augmenté de 30% cette année.

Représenter la Belgique au niveau international est une opportunité unique pour chacun des joueurs. Ils pourront répercuter leur expérience au niveau national et continuer de cette manière à développer le Touch au sein des clubs belges.

Three Touch teams ready to represent Belgium

On Tuesday 17th July, Belgium will be sending three teams to the European Touch Championships in Nottingham : a men’s team, a women’s team and a senior men’s team. In total, 45 players from across Belgium will be playing to represent their country.

The European Touch Championships represent the highest level of touch in Europe and each and every player has dedicated months of training, tournament participation and organization to the team. They will face teams from England, France, Germany, Scotland, Wales, Luxembourg, Italy, Jersey, Guernsey, Switzerland, Ireland, Portugal and the Middle East.

Three belgian referees are also accompanying the teams : Stéphanie Horeau, Karla Brincat and Ivo Broucke have been instrumental in helping the Belgian teams train to a competitive level over past months, and will represent Belgium as referees throughout the tournament.

Thanks to the kit sponsor, Sports Distribution, the teams will be playing in the Belgian colours, designed especially for the tournament. Helping send the teams on their way also are Volvo ACG and Logo.Praxis which have kindly sponsored the team. However, every little helps ! We are fundraising to help our players cover the costs of accommodation, travel and fees to play in Nottingham at https://www.pledgesports.org/projects/european-touch-championships-2018-belgian-national-teams/. Any donation, no matter how small, will be gratefully received to help the players cover the costs of the tournament, which total around €600 per player.

Belgium’s ability to send three teams and referees to the ETC 2018 is a reflection of the hard work and commitment that players across clubs have put in to develop the sport. Touch sections are now active across more clubs than ever before – Antwerp, Boitsfort, Gent, Hamme, Kituro, Oudenaarde, the BBRFC Celtics and the Citizen’s – with Liege and La Hulpe in the pipeline. The number of players has increased by over 30% in the last twelve months alone.

Representing Belgium at international level is a unique opportunity that is reflected in the motivation and commitment from each and every player. The skills, pride and experience are all brought back to Belgium to continue developing the sport at national level.
